It’s the day of your big trip. You go to make the desperately needed print out of your airline boarding pass. What do you see but a ghostly image that just won’t do, they won’t be able to accept this at the airport. So it’s apparent that you need to get a new ink cartridge, or maybe you can refill your current cartridge? This is a dilemma some people face, especially those who use their printers often. For some printers, this is an easy decision. Many older printers do well with inkjet refill kits, but some newer printers may not be good candidates for at home refilling. You must understand that print heads on some of the newer designed ink cartridges are not designed to be used repeatedly; they want you to keep buying their printer cartridges of course.
Some people use generic ink jet refill kits may notice lower quality printing results; it depends on the refill manufacturer. Some refill companies try to stick with the OEM factory specifications related to their ink, but then there are others that aren’t so quality-minded. I use HP ink, it’s not cheap but it works well. I recommend InkMart.com . They have a huge selection and they stand behind what they sell with an ironclad 100% guarantee. Either way you can buy a refill kit and it will at least work for the one time perform do the refill. If you aren’t happy with it then once that ink runs out buy another cartridge, however from my experience usually the ink refilling works quite well, just proceed with confidence. Refilling an inkjet cartridge is something that can be done in less than 10 minutes. But you need to work carefully to not spill any ink. I recommend using latex glove; many of the kits include these. When you are working place newspaper on the table or your work area in case of any ink falls. Make sure to not overfill the cartridge as if any ink leaks out it can contaminate the printers’ circuitry. And you have to make sure not to get ink on your clothes or your monetary saving will be negated. I don’t wan to make refilling your ink jet cartridges sound too complicated, as it’s not. But there are just a few pointers to make things go smoothly. Make sure you read the instructions as they always contain some little tips that make the whole process work more smoothly. Some cartridges require cracking open the sealed lid in order to inject the ink. This is not a difficult task, but you do have to be cautious to not damage the print cartridge while refilling it. Not being properly trained on refills can be dangerous.
Many manufacturers dislike the idea of people refilling their own cartridges as it cuts into their profit stream. As a result some companies have made changes in the cartridges designs. The changes they have designed are bordering on being sneaky, and personally I don’t like them. Some manufacturers have included a countdown feature in the circuitry that communicates with the printer; the message to the printer is to not print after a set number of copies have been made. For these types of cartridges, refilling is not an option. Then there are also companies that have designed their cartridges with integrated circuits that keep the cartridge form being used except for the exact same cartridge that the manufacturer sells.
